Usage analytics
Facthunt’s optional page-view measurements help us understand which parts of the site are used. Here is what those measurements include when enabled.
Browser privacy controlsWhat is recorded
- A page category: home, Local Play, Questions & answers, online duel setup, online duel, or other public information pages such as About and Help.
- An entry-source category: direct, Google, Bing, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, YouTube, X, or other. The referring address is reduced to a category in your browser. The address itself is not included. “Direct” also covers visits where no referrer is available.
- A broad device category: mobile, tablet or desktop.
- A random identifier for each page view and a random identifier that groups page views from the same browser tab.
- The time the measurement arrives and whether it came from the live site or a test.
Your browser’s session storage keeps only the random tab identifier and entry-source category for these measurements, so they survive a page reload. Restored or duplicated tabs can reuse that storage. Session counts are approximate browser sessions, not a count of people.
What these measurements leave out
These analytics records contain no names, email addresses, answers, scores, participant counts, completion results, private invitation links, full page addresses, search strings or IP addresses. Questions & answers reveals and ticks are not measured.
The page-view measurement does not send gameplay cookies or use advertising trackers, session replay or keystroke recording.
Web servers and hosting services still receive ordinary connection information, including IP addresses. Their operational logs are separate from these usage records.
Browser privacy controls
If your browser supports Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, you can enable either in its privacy settings. When either signal is on, this page-view measurement sends no requests and does not read or write its session storage.
A new analytics session is not started if session storage is unavailable. You can keep using Facthunt when usage analytics are off.
